Children’s emotional health and wellbeing is directly linked to learning. School based programmes of social and emotional learning have the potential to help young people acquire the skills and resilience they need to make good academic progress as well as be of benefit to their health and wellbeing.
Pupils are more likely to engage in lessons that focus on emotional wellbeing if they are practical and relevant to them. This workshop will provide teachers, PHSE leads, teaching assistants and the wider school community with an opportunity to creatively introduce and support the development of the mental health and emotional wellbeing of children.
At this workshop there will be a practical session based on the ‘Love your Feelings’ Teacher resources developed in Walsall schools. This will be delivered by a KS2 Class Teacher from Christ Church CE Primary School and a creative artist from Creative Health CiC. They have developed and used the resources with children and will demonstrate how it can be used and the impact it made on pupils.
There will also be information of other opportunities that can be of use in your school around the arts, and health, from all the partners involved: Walsall Public Health, Creative Health CiC, Walsall Council and Arts Connect.
This is free but places are limited so please book before 15 June here.
Refreshments are provided.
