Who is this course for?

You will be working for an Arts and Cultural organisation or you will be an individual who is interested in developing your approach to working with schools that makes the most of what you offer in terms of arts and cultural activities and how you can best promote this.

Whether you offer a one off cultural experience, a residency or a project the course will:

  • Save you time and resources by supporting you to plan your work in a strategic way that meets the needs of teachers and children.
  • Help you to build satisfying and fruitful relationships and partnerships with the formal education sector.
  • Give you the opportunity to work alongside experts, a Head Teacher, and arts and cultural organisations with a track record of success in developing long and deeply rewarding partnerships with schools.
  • Give you an understanding of different approaches to working with schools in multi academy trusts, teaching schools and local authority schools.
  • Help you to know more about how Arts Award and Artsmark can enhance your offer to schools.
  • Support you in learning how to shape your offer to the needs of schools giving you a greater chance of building ongoing partnership work.
  • Help you to develop a plan for action that is bespoke to your organisation and includes new ideas to address some of the common challenges.

Course content

We will be bringing together a wide group of specialists to provide high quality, reliable and up to date information about the education sector and knowledge and understanding of strategic planning and how it can help you be more effective

Dates and venue

The course is 5 days in total and will take place at Midlands Arts Centre (MAC).

Cost and the application process

The course is free, but you must be working in the West Midlands to qualify for this.

If you are an individual artist or a sole trader working in arts and culture you will be able to apply for our training bursary of £50 per day.
